Gotta go fast? We’ve just launched a Speedrun mode for Crossy Road Castle! 🕠
Available from today, at any time, on all platforms - this feature brings a whole new way to enjoy your favourite Crossy Road Castle content and reward skill, dedication, and practice.
In the time since its initial release on Apple Arcade in 2020, and then on major console platforms in 2024, Crossy Road Castle has inspired a dedicated community of competitive players.
Many of you like to challenge yourselves against the clock: we love watching community places flourish, like the CRC Speedrunning Discord. We love seeing people engage with official community speedrun competitions, like the ones we ran on our Discord for the SpongeBob update.
We love seeing friendships formed, YouTube channels grown, and exciting new gameplay strategies shared. It seemed only natural for us to introduce a speedrunning mode in the game itself!
About Speedrun mode
Unlike other challenge modes in Crossy Road Castle, Speedrun can be accessed from the main menu at any time! Just select the image of Chicken with a stopwatch.
Speedrun mode has some unique quirks, to help increase the sense of challenge and maintain a seamless fast-paced gameplay experience:
💔 No heart machines to replenish lost lives. We’re living in the fast lane here.
🦅 No bosses to encounter - just thousands of different possible level combinations without interruption.
🐔 Iron Chicken mode, where you are restricted to just one single heart, can also be chosen...if you’re game.
🏆 Unique leaderboards for each mode!
There are two different types of Speedrun challenge to choose from:
TIME ATTACK 🕠
Race against the clock and complete as many rooms as you can, within either a 2 minute or 5 minute time limit!
ROOM RUSH 🏃
Rush through a set number of rooms as fast as you can! Choose from either a set of 25 rooms, or 50 rooms.
Rooms can be set to fixed or randomised. To activate Iron Chicken mode, simply select the metallic Chicken icon from the Speedrun mode selection menu.
Note that like any challenge mode, Speedrun is single player only. To unlock it, you’ll need to have at least finished the in-game tutorial; i.e. played the first tower twice.
Krabby Patty Kollectathon + Jellyfish Jam (Apple Arcade only - ends Dec 31)
Miss the SpongeBob events? If you’re on Apple Arcade, you’ll be able to replay them in Speedrun mode!
Note that you won’t be able to acquire SpongeBob characters or hats by playing these levels in Speedrun mode. These SpongeBob levels will also be leaving Speedrun mode at the end of the year.
